2 Quick Cards

Good morning!  We have a few extra days in November, so we don't have anyone assigned to today and tomorrow, so I thought I would quickly post two cards I recently created with CI Paints for a little extra inspiration:

I used some Great Impression Stamps for this one.

Fairy Dust is by far one of my favorite paints to use as it is clear and just adds the perfect shimmer.  I used it to add shimmer to the snowglobe around the penguin:

Then for this one I used to to cover the entire ornament to add shimmer to it:

Have a great day!

Christmas Tree Bear

Good morning! It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this fun Double Twisted Easel Christmas card with you. Can you believe it is less than a month til Christmas Day?? Wow!

This chipboard star was painted with some gesso first, and then I used some yellow Sunshine Creative Inspirations Paints to make this chipboard star all shimmery.

For this cute scene, I colored the image with Copic markers first, and then I went to town with several Creative Inspirations Paints. The star at the top of the tree is painted with Sunshine, the red Christmas lights and the holly berries are painted with Garnet, the blue bulbs on the ground are painted with Denium, the tops of the blue bulbs are painted with Antique Silver, and the copper bands going around the barrel planter are painted with Antique Copper. Isn't that shimmer nice and festive? :-)

Stamps: Christmas Tree Bear & Beary Christmas - I Brake for Stamps
Creative Inspirations Paint: Sunshine, Garnet, Denium, Antique Silver, Antique Copper
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
CS: Black, Red, White, dp (Recollections)
Other: Copic markers, holly leaf punch, red bling, chipboard star, gesso

fabric resist...

Good morning everyone!
I hope you are survived the mad rush of Black Friday... I decided not to do the shopping scene this year.

Today I want to share a fun twist on the old resist =)

Heres what you need:
Chipboard shape
Creative Inspirations Paint
white on white fabric*
water
dry adhesive
scissors
cotton swab

*white on white fabric is a white cotton fabric with a white design printed on it. It's faint, but you can sorta see the flower design on the fabric in this photo. I don't know what they use to print the design, but it works as a resist!

Step 1: cover one side of your chipboard shape with your dry adhesive.

Step 2: firmly press your white on white fabric over your adhesive. This will act as a stabilizer for your fabric.

Step 3: trim away excess fabric.  I like to leave a leave a little over hang for a tattered look (see next step)

Step 4: If you want a tattered look, use your fingernails to fray the edges of the fabric... If you are having troubles fraying it, try making a few snips with your scissors and pulling strings from there.
If you don't want it tattered, just trim off all over hanging fabric.

Step 5: water down some Creative Inspirations Paint. You can add water right in the jar (CI paints are water based, so adding water won't hurt them, just thin them... However, I like to do my mixing on a non-stick craft sheet so I can keep the rest of the paint a little thicker.

Step 6: paint your fabric. Because you thinned it down, it should spread on easily and it won't make the frayed edges too stiff.

Step 7: dip one end of your cotton swab in water and gently rub the CI paint off the design. Don't over-do the rubbing as you can rub off the sparkle, just gently go over the design.

Once it's dry, it's ready to use!

I love the combination of shimmer and texture!

Enjoy!

Monochromatic card - Kianel

Hello dear Creative Inspirations paints lovers!
Kianel here with you today and  i am showing you a monochromatic...sort of...card. Papers are Bazzill and MME. Stamp is a Sarah Kay from Stampavie. Colouring is made with distress inks and Creative Inspirations paints chocolate, autumn wheat and carmel. All dies are from Cheery Lynn designs. Cheesecloth, lace, ribbon, pearls, charm and stamens from my stash.
All the dies are covered with ink and then Creative Inspirations paints Carmel.

I coloured the stamped image with distress inks (scattered straw, walnut stain, forest moss, tattered rose, vintage photo) and Creative Inspirations paints chocolate, autumn wheat and Carmel.

I hope that you will like my card and i would also want to remind you our current challenge this week, which is THANKS. So come and play with us and get the opportunity to win some fabulous jars of Creative Inspirations paints!
Have a nice day, lots of love from France, Kianel.

Poinsettia Christmas Card

I can't believe it, but as I sit here typing, there is an early winter storm on it's way to Eastern Canada, with 30cm of snow in store fo us! For those of you south of the border... that's a foot! (and Happy Thanksgiving to you too!)

The prospect of snowmen on lawns and the clickety click of studded snow tires has completely put me in Christmas mode, and I've been making headway on my Christmas cards.

This is one of those cards! There is barely a square inch of it not covered in CI Paints! And would you believe those Prima poinsettias started out white, with bright green foliage?

Here's a close-up, check out the shine on those flowers:!

And, here are the colors I used to achieve the look. Left to Right; Burgundy, Garnet, Sunshine, Fairy Dust, Caramel and Emerald.

Hope this inspires you to get a card or two done, and for all my American friends, have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

A Few Ideas

Hi, it's Gini and today I'd like to share several ways to use Creative Inspirations Paints on your projects.

I've always enjoyed distressing the edges of my papers. The technique that I used here started by painting a border of Silver Frost around the edges. I let that dry and then I used a distressing tool to rough up the edges of the paper. You could also use the edge of your scissors. Finally, I painted the frayed paper with the darker Coal color. This really enhanced the distressing.
Chipboard is fun to paint too! I began with Dusty Attic chipboard, and painted it with Silver Frost (for the highlights), Antique Silver and Coal (for the shadows). The great color selection that Creative Inspirations has, makes it wonderful for adding highlights.

I wanted my seam binding ribbon to be very tattered - so I quickly painted Rose Quartz on white seam binding, spritzed it with a little water, and balled it up to dry. I sometimes do this type of technique with color sprays, but I found using the paints really helped to keep the wrinkles were I wanted them.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you got some ideas of great ways to use your Creative Inspirations Paints.

Light Switch Cover Fun

Recently, I was inspired by a tutorial online to alter a light switch covers!  I obviously instantly thought of my Create Inspirations Paint!  How fun it would be to create a shimmery light switch cover with some bling for my little girl's bedroom!

The plain, boring light switch cover:

I used Mod Podge to cover the light switch cover and then added tissue paper over it and added a little more Mod Podge.

I then used CI Paint "Tickled Pink" to cover the cover.
I painted it with two coats.

I then used a sponge to sponge "Tutu Pink" on the cover.

Lastly, I added some bling!  I used some of the jeweled clear inspirations from CI!  In sizes SS30 and SS20, along with some smaller ones from my stash.
The finished light switch, just love at that BLING!

 Now replaced in her bedroom!
It was so fun and easy to make!  Perfect for her bedroom!  She always says "Petty" meaning pretty!

Have a great day!
